Some might say there are three main reasons why people work with a financial advisor. The first is to work with someone who has knowledge, experience and expertise in the financial field. The second reason is to work with someone who can build a plan that they can understand and feel comfortable with. The third reason is to work with someone who they can trust to put the client’s needs over their own needs.

Stephen Nelson graduated with a bachelor degree from Dixie State University in 2014 Summa Cum Laude, where he studied finance. During his final two years of school he was an intern at Northwestern Mutual. He was the number 4 intern in the Northwestern Mutual system in the Western United States in 2014.

Since becoming a Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual, Stephen was recognized in 2016 as one of the top 5 advisors in Utah under their 5th year in the career.

Stephen strives to make sure clients have clarity around their financial future and plan for that future. It is important to him that the clients he works with understand the financial strategy and are ready for the unexpected events that occur in life.

Doing what is best for the client in the long term is very important for Stephen. He believes a financial advisor should do what is best for the client long term above all else. He strives to help his clients make educated decisions on their finances that feel right to them as the client. This is why in 2017 he became a Certified Financial Planner.
